i'm doing okay

you know, they don;treally explain things. like the doctor calmly said, "and you[ll have to keep your head down for a while." but he didn';t say for weeks and doing this head down thing is really difficult. this wohn[t be a long blog cuase i can;t type in head donw position very well. sitting reading isn''t bad but the neck hates it. trying to sleep on your stomach or side but still with your eye facing down is near ijmpossible. but i listened to the laker game (GO LAKERS) and used my imagination, but it took some doing. we sighted folks are sure lucky when our sight is working. tonight i'm looking forward to HEARING THE CELtics (GO CELTICS).

also must cancel clients for weeks. that's not cool.

oh and riding in a car back and forth to doctors with head down resultsin nausea and vomting. that's been the low point so far.

at least i can use the phone. tho i get tired. and i probably could practice putting and really keep my head down quite well.

so, usually cheerful pretty much, i know this wiill get OLD real soon.

but, hey, i had nothing to blog about when i had no life tragedies, so i guess this little run in with eyeball aging is designd to keep me a blogger. Clare our great UCLA coordinator has been telling me that i can make this little ibook of mine talk. think i'll try to figure it out.

so with greetings and salutations and love all around ---

i remain (partially sighted and mending),

So sorry that you are having to undergo this long recovery period. Hopefully you will come through with intact vision and perhaps, a new novel or book in the making.
I just had a thought about what to do with your head in a down position for weeks on end...Perhaps you could do something that you did long, long ago. As I recall, once upon a time you used a tape recorder to interview Nana about her life stories. Maybe you could do the same thing again, but this time, interview yourself. A memoir. Later, once you're more able, you could type it up. Or you could have a few of us help you out by typing it for you. Once you finish a tape, you could send it along to one of us and we'd write your oral story down and then send it back to you via computer.
Just a thought.
Also, perhaps having one of those neck pillows (the c shaped ones) could be useful in placing your head forward and down onto a table while seated or while lying face down on a bed. Anyway you slice it, it sounds pretty uncomfortable.

Best of luck. Let me know if I can be of any assistance to you from the east coast. -w

ON A MEDICAL NOTE, anyone who experiences a sudden change in vision should be seen IMMEDIATELY by an ophthalmologist. Go to the nearest emergency room if it is off hours, and insist on seeing an ophthalmologist. Retinal tears continue to rip. And the longer the tissue remains off of the back wall of the eye, the more damage that can occur. Myopes (near-sighted folks) are prone to detachments. As are people with large eyes, and hyperthyroid disease.
Couldn't let this opportunity pass in case any of the bloggers out there experience something similar. -w

these are great ideas, wanda. thanks for them and for keeping up with me. wonder what ever happened to those tapes of nana's. i have been working on genealogy on ancestry.com trying to add some pictures and info. are you going to be joining Buffum reunion in Salem in August? hopefully my eye will mend by then so i can fly.

hope your mother's day was not too sad. it was mom's and wendy's birthday the same day. i was noticing that many women in our family have May birthdays. they get cheated a bit.

but thanks for being there dear cousin --

Hi Cyn, Thanks for the post to let us know you survived. I left a message on your cell yesterday but I'm sure it was one of hundreds. Are you listening to the DNC meeting today--that's one way to while away the time...but watch your blood pressure! Let me know if there's anything I can do. Can you listen to books on tape or CD? Love, Della

So, so sorry that you are going through this right now.

I can't even imagine what discomfort you are in, as you try to keep your head down. I hope the time you spend in recovery will pass quickly and I'm so glad Sallie is there to help you cope.

Love and Hugs.... : )
